Slice of Life #24

We went to see the long awaited Hunger Games today as a family.  The only family member that read the book was my daughter.  She told me last night she was more excited for today than she was the night before we left for Disney in January.  I guess she really enjoyed the book!
I didn't read the book because it just never seemed to interest me.  I was repeatedly told by many people that I would enjoy it, but the topic just didn't seem to appeal to me.  After seeing the movie, I think I will be reading the next two in the series.  I am a bit disappointed that I didn't listen to others who told me I should read it.  I wish I had....  The movie was excellent, but being an avid reader I know I would have enjoyed the book more.

  1. I actually read the series and loved it, but it took two years of recommendations from others before I finally read the first one, and even then it was because I had nothing else to read. I'm totally glad I read it because I devoured it in one day, then the second one the next day. I had to wait until I could get a copy of the third, but once I did, I read it very quickly. I can't wait to see the movie, but since I live in China, I'll have to wait a bit longer to get it on DVD. It's not the same as going to the theater, but it'll be good either way! ;) Enjoy the trilogy!

  2. I think you should still read the first book because we all know the movies are never quite as good as the books. Plus, I think the first one was the best of the three.

  3. I am on the third book and have enjoyed them. I will wait a bit to see the movie since I don't have any young readers in my life to get me out to the movies but I am looking forward to it.

  4. I started book three today, these characters are amazing. I am seeing the movie tomorrow. My husband and I both have had goosebumps at multiple times today just thinking about it! We are geeked. I cannot wait and have heard only positive comments so far! So glad you all went to see it and yes...you should start book two, right now! :)

  5. You should still read the first book. I am just about finished with the trilogy--for the third time. I seem to get more out of it with each read. I'm just really bummed I didn't get to the movie this weekend.
